The poppies, the poems. I’ve gotten yelled at before about this, and this topic very rapidly leads to a proof of Godwin’s Law, but here goes anyway.
This has me absolutely furious. Words fail me. Glenn Brooks you are completely unclear on the concept of “public service,” a rank amateur and I hope your constituents throw you out on your ass at the first opportunity.
And shame on the rest of city council for being so cowed by the hysteria around the three cursed words: Support our troops.
Okay, not really all that bad, but it does make me a little queasy thinking of Saddam Hussein being hanged (too many hyperlinks to think about) because I think he was singled out for punishment where others do the same thing he did with impunity.
Billy Bragg. My idol. Gone digital. Back in the 80’s and 90’s he used to release topical ditties on 45 and on tape, and they would get around, eventually, but more often than not people would hear them as a redux on the latest outrage Margaret Thatcher had visited on people.
Don’t get me wrong. I can’t stand the idea that the United States may (once again) attack Iraq. And I’m in favour of many sorts of actions to oppose war on Iraq. But e-petitions aren’t one of them. And the unicwash petition is a hoax.
